Jerry Drop in: Quarantined

The Little Free Library program is a series of small free “libraries” that anyone can borrow from or contribute to. These Little Libraries can be found in many Charlotte neighborhoods. One such library sits in the driveway of Safe Hands Learning Center, which is located off of Sharon Amity on Vernedale Rd, behind old Eastland Mall property.

The newest addition to this little library, titled “Jerry Drop in: Quarantined,” is the latest edition of a comic book series by creator KJ Green, a middle school student from East Charlotte. Established in 2016, the “Jerry Drop” series uniquely chronicles the adventures of a group of water droplet characters. The series was inspired by an assignment KJ received in school.

KJ intends to share more of his books with the East Charlotte community by adding his comics to more little libraries for readers to discover. To be the first to know about Jerry Drop updates, email the author here: jerrydrops@eastcharlottetweets.com.

Your Destiny Learning Center is Supporting Academic Success in East Charlotte

The recent school report cards  released  by CMS  has many parents  concerned about  how well their children are doing in local schools compared to students across our nation.   The scores have not been satisfactory for quite some time.

Below are some of the reported  EOG passing scores/stats from  local Elementary schools

As you can see there is MUCH work to be done!!  The staff at Your Destiny Academic Academy have developed a program that leads to academic success for  East Charlotte students.  The staff report that 98% of the students enrolled at Your Destiny Academic Academy are on the A/B honor roll.   This is certainly a stark contrast to the CMS reported EOG scores.
Parents of local East Charlotte CMS schools can find out more about this program at the Your Destiny Academic Academy Webpage.  They offer a variety of academic support eviroments including an  before and afterschool programs, summer camp and tutoring.
